Even in Hunger, Tigers Do Not Eat Grass (2013)

overhead projection, print on paper (91cm x 520cm), works on printed news articles, video (6 min. in loop, color)

The work revisits "Dong-A Ilbo advertising coercion and forced layoff case" orchestrated by the Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA) from 1974 through 1975 during Park Chunghee regime in South Korea.  Individuals who bought smaller advertisements with the DongA Ilbo expressing encouragement to the paper were either called in or physically detained by the KCIA and threatened with tax audits.

This work was made possible by the support of Kunsthuis SYB.
