So Here, So This, So Now (2021)

video, 16:9, color, sound, 10 min.

The work is made in response to exceptional times we live in—seemingly full of emotional isolation and trepidation facing unprecedented challenges posed by the pandemic. It is a visual collage that follows two protagonists' flow of thoughts, disjointed but associative: it interweaves moving images with the artist’s self-written text in first person and a number of quotes from Russell Hoban’s Turtle Diary (1975) that has a message about connection and gaining a better perspective on life.

“more and more I think that madness is the world’s natural state and to expect anything else is madness compounded.”

This project was made possible by the support of the Mondriaan Fund.
